
I really do love watching the stars. Especially on dark nights in the mountains. I climbed Mount Marcy a few times, and the stars are one of my favorite parts. You can easily see satellites passing overhead. There’s so much of it. And space always follows similar systems of mechanics and energy no matter how big you go. It’s the same systems of mechanics and energy no matter how small you go, too. Molecules, atoms, protons, muons, quarks, strings… Planets, solar systems, galaxies, the universe – and many believe that our universe is just one pocket, that there are multiple pockets. Just like molecules.
I wrote a poem for a friend once, the first line was, “Friends are like stars that shine in the night.” The card had glow in the dark star stickers of two constellations oriented as they appear on their birthday.
